“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”
Ezekiel 22:30 (NIV)
Do you know that, as a Christian, Satan is accusing you of as sorts of things 24 hours a day to God (Revelation 12:10)? Some of the things you’re being accused of you’ve likely done and in a court of law, you’d be found guilty and would have to pay the punishment for your crimes. However, there’s One who stands before God, on your behalf, pleading your case. This person is Jesus and it was His sacrifice on the cross that has purchased our freedom.
Who stands for those who don’t know Christ? Certainly, you might think, they stand on their own, right? Jesus died for their sins too and it’s their choice to accept Him and the gift that He offers to everyone. We all know people who don’t know the Lord, and everyone we do know who knows Him didn’t know Him at one time or another. You know how you came to know the Lord, right? It’s your testimony and only you and God know it until you tell others. When you’re standing before the Judgment seat before God one day, and Satan is there accusing you, your plea will be guilty, and you will point to Jesus and tell the Lord that you’re covered by His blood. It’s by the blood of Jesus and your testimony that you have victory over death (Revelation 12:11).
What if I told you that you came to know the Lord because someone prayed for you? Yes, it was your choice to accept Jesus into your heart but I would be shocked if there wasn’t someone who prayed for you. Now, you might not even know the person and they might not know you. I pray for people all the time who I don’t know. If you’re reading this then I’ve prayed for you because God knows. I have stats on my blog that show me how many visitors and views I’ve had along with likes, etc. However, I know that these stats aren’t always right. One way or another some people slip through the cracks and aren’t counted. Yet, God knows. Often, whenever I go someplace I pray over the people there. When I’m standing in a line I might not be telling anyone about Jesus but I’m praying for the people around me. I might be sitting in my car at a traffic light and I’m praying. I don’t believe I’m the only person who does stuff like this so I think that someone prayed for you.
This is something we all need to do. The world is a dark place and has always been since sin entered into it and while God is omniscient and omnipresent He appreciates it when we tell Him about other people. It can be as simple as, “Father, do you see this woman here? She looks really tired and that guy giving her a hard time probably isn’t helping. Could you touch them? Save and deliver them? And if they do know you, could you touch them anyway and speak to them?” or even something like, “Father, could you help all of these people here, right now?” I think you get the point. It’s great when we can pray with people but sometimes we can’t.
What about people you’ve prayed for over and over again? There might be people in your life whose salvation you’ve prayed for and you see nothing happening. Allow me to encourage you to not give up on God. I had people who were praying for me for at least 5 years before I was saved. Many of whom had given up. When you pray, also pray for the land. All you need to do is look around to see fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and disasters in the land. We have this intelligence from the word, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).
Therefore, we know that it’s our responsibility and privilege to pray, not just for the people of this world, but for this world itself. We are stewards of this place and frankly, I don’t think we’ve done a great job. However, God is forgiving, merciful, and just, so whatever you do; pray, He’s listening!
Do you know God? God knows you and He loves you. He sees you as significant because you are. No one is insignificant to Him. He’s with you today, right now, and He wants you to know Him. Jesus died for your sins and mine so that we could be free of guilt, be freed from death, and live eternally with Him. Eternal salvation is just a prayer away.
Pray this prayer with me to accept the gift of salvation today:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer then congratulations! You are on the first step of a brand new life. Allow me to be the first to welcome you to my family, the family of God.
