Have you ever not seen something that had been there all along? Like not seeing a spot on the carpet that, after you’ve seen it, you can’t shake the question, “How did I miss that? The truth is like that once you know it. Lies are so obvious once we know the truth, but without knowing the truth, we are bound by our belief in the lie.
When the Apostle Paul wrote his first letter to the Corinthians, there were people there who professed to be Christians but didn’t believe in the resurrection of the dead.
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
1 Corinthians 15:12 (NIV)
When Paul first preached to the people of Corinth he preached to them that Jesus was the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead. Furthermore, through Christ’s death and subsequent resurrection, their sins were forgiven. The basis of the Gospel Paul preached was Christ’s death and resurrection, yet some did not believe.
Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians was written around 54 AD, not long after the glorification of Jesus. Paul reminds the Corinthians of what he taught them about the Lord’s death and resurrection.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
1 Corinthians 15:3-7 (NIV)
Although they once believed the Gospel, for some reason, some no longer believed all of it. Paul goes on in his letter to point out the truth to those non-believers.
I wonder what lies are we believing when the truth is staring us in the face?
Every day when I wake up I’m assaulted by the lies of the day. The biggest lie I’m hit with every day is the one that questions my identity in Christ. Do you know that you must have a clear understanding of your identity in Christ to receive the authority and power God has given to you?
When we read the Bible there’s a lot we can learn. We learn who God is and how He sees us. We also learn who we are in Christ. Since we won’t find a list in the Bible in one place of who we are in Christ, here’s a list of who you are in Christ.

I encourage you to read these declarations of who you are in Christ out loud. Each day, I declare who I am in Christ over everything the world is telling me about myself. It’s only when we know the truth that those lies have no hold on us.
Do you know God? God knows you, and He loves you. He sees you as significant because you are. No one is insignificant to Him. He’s with you today, right now, and He wants you to know Him. Jesus died for your sins and mine so we could be free of guilt, be freed from death, and live eternally with Him. Eternal salvation is just a prayer away.
Pray this prayer with me to accept the gift of salvation today:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, then congratulations! You are on the first step of a brand new life. Allow me to be the first to welcome you to my family, the family of God. A person has to want the Scripture to help them, their spirit is willing but their flesh is weak. God’s Word is alive, they are not just simple words on a page. They are words of life.
