Or is He? Since Jesus died and was glorified almost 2,000 years ago, there have been numerous predictions about his return despite what Scripture says about him returning.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Mark 13:32 (NIV)
Indeed, Jesus tells us that since no one knows, we must be ready for when he does return. No one can predict when Jesus will return because of verses like these.
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him (emphasis added).
Matthew 24:44 (NIV)
“You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him (emphasis added).”
Luke 12:40 (NIV)
Because no one expects Jesus to return when he returns, this tells me that it is impossible for anyone to predict it. I also don’t believe that God will tell anyone ahead of time either. Otherwise, Scripture would be in error, and God would be made a liar.
Therefore, if there’s ever a time when we can be assured that Jesus isn’t returning, it will be on a day and time when someone has announced that he is returning, so don’t believe the false prophets on the horizon predicting the Second Coming.
Do you know God? God knows you, and he loves you. He sees you as significant because you are. No one is insignificant to Him. He’s with you today, and he wants you to know him. Jesus died for your sins and mine so we could be free of guilt, freed from death, and live eternally with him. Eternal salvation is just a prayer away.
Pray this prayer with me to accept the gift of salvation:
Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins. I repent from my ways. Wash me in your blood and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I believe that you died on the cross, were buried, and on the third day, God the Father raised you from the dead. Right now, Lord Jesus, I open the door to my heart and receive you into my heart as my Lord and personal Savior. Amen.
