Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.
Deuteronomy 11:18-21 (NIV)
Our lives are filled with messages contrary to God’s word. We are more connected to media than at any previous time in human history. We are inundated with ads through social media, apps, television, billboards, etc. Even if one reads their Bible daily, studies the word, and meditates on it; we are assailed from every side by messages contrary to God’s word. How can we insert God’s word into our daily lives in a way that keeps our minds on Jesus?
If you’re using a smartphone, computer, or tablet, you can use an image for the background. This is typically called “wallpaper.” You can change your wallpaper to display an image with Bible verses. While it might not seem like much, you might be surprised at how often that flash of God’s word will help battle the other things you see throughout the day.
Printouts are another excellent way to keep God’s word in your mind while you work throughout the day. I’ve printed Bible verses and posted them on my desk and personal workspaces. The refrigerator is another good place to put up Scripture.
Worship music and podcasts are a great way to listen to something uplifting and edifying to the mind and spirit.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11 (NIV)
Unless we saturate ourselves with God’s word, we can’t “hide it” in our hearts.
Do you know God? God knows you, and he loves you. He sees you as significant because you are. No one is insignificant to Him. He’s with you today, and he wants you to know him. Jesus died for your sins and mine so we could be free of guilt, freed from death, and live eternally with him. Eternal salvation is just a prayer away.
Pray this prayer with me to accept the gift of salvation:
Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins. I repent from my ways. Wash me in your blood and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I believe that you died on the cross, were buried, and on the third day, God the Father raised you from the dead. Right now, Lord Jesus, I open the door to my heart and receive you into my heart as my Lord and personal Savior. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, then congratulations! You are on the first step of a brand new life. Allow me to be the first to welcome you to my family, the family of God. There are abundant resources available online for new Christians. You can visit here for more information on what to do next. You can also leave me a comment, and I’ll do my best to help you on the next step of this incredible journey.
I also find that rote memorization of verses that speak to my situation is very helpful. Our minds are like putty (modern brain research calls it neuroplasticity) and they take on the “shape” of whatever we rest them on, especially repeatedly. Blessing to you, Jason!

Indeed, memorization of verses is also a great way to renew and transform our minds. The fact that modern research confirms Romans 12:2 speaks to the veracity of Scripture. Thank you, Craig for your comment, stopping by, and adding to the conversation! God bless you, my brother.

When I look at the things that are going on in the world, I often ask the question: What would the world be like if everyone accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior? I don’t think there would be so many distractions to keep us from focusing totally on God’s Word. We have to remember that we cannot do anything without Jesus. We should hide His Word in our hearts so when we need it, it is there to comfort our heart, mind, and soul. I just don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have His Word to turn to. Thanks for sharing, Jason. God bless you. Have a great weekend.
