nu-ugh

lips shuddering-
out
for a bit.

sticky, Hot
Marshmallows
and the
fire
it’s
so warm-
seepy

gonna stay up
with Mommy and Daddy.
big now.
the baby is sleeping;
I’m not a baby.

it’s
nice
by the fire
with pookie,
so warm
comfy…
I’m awake!
Mommy’s holding me
telling me a story-

WAILING-
alarming.
I am awake.
five
fades.

Days Past

Soapy water,
excited fur ball.

The heat,
Santa Barbara summer,
child’s laughter,
his father,
together-
washing the dog.

Reminds me,
of my own father.
Our dog,
long passed,
remembered.

A neighborly wave,
a rare sight,
now-a-days.
A welcome sight.

Smile on my face,
I wave back.
The smile,
wearing memories,
the man,
the boy,
the dog,
and,
a friendly wave.
