laughing
playing
and
swimming!

Water

cold-
but NO
I won’t get out!
nu-ugh
can’t make me!
lips shuddering-
out
for a bit.

sticky, Hot
Marshmallows
and the
fire
it’s
so warm-
seepy
AM NOT.
gonna stay up
with Mommy and Daddy.
big now.
the baby is sleeping;
I’m not a baby.

it’s
nice
by the fire
with pookie,
so warm
comfy…
I’m awake!
Mommy’s holding me
telling me a story-

WAILING-
alarming.
I am awake.

I waited for you.
twin birds nestled in my hair,
leaves turned,
I waited.

Decorated
I was,
in my white blanket.
Icicles hanging,
diamonds,
waiting.

The birds became many
and the children played
’round the Maypole.

The wind
howled for you.
The Moon and I,
we became
great friends.

And I waited.
The burning stars,
ever my companions.
Whispering.

Still,
I waited.

The light grew longer,
the children taller,
and
eventually,
I faded.

Your love

caresses me deep within
enveloping me.

is His love,
for He gave you to me.

Your love
rivals the ocean’s thunder,
glimmering inside.

Your love is His love,
and He gave you to me.

Your love,
I cherish,
clutch,
carrying it
within my heart.

My love,
you have always,
I have given you my heart.

Bird

A bird outside my window,
hummingbird-like
darts from tree
to tree.
Wood stained breast
pale
in the afternoon light
boldly outlined
in a black shimmering cloak.

I see the dark beak
pointing the way.
I hear the song
and I understand,
the words
they escape me.

There’s one tree
decorated
in tiny white flowers,
this tree
it avoids,
always looking,
peering,
intently,
steering clear.

I see this bird,
I realize
we are
the same.
