Marti

She said she dreamed.
Dreamed and dreamed.
and then she woke up.
“Dreams aren’t reality!”

-Her words set me ablaze. No, dreams aren’t reality.
They are the hope of humanity
breaking all barriers (except those we erect).
Dreams are-
will always be,
Hope.
A new day.
A fresh face.

Dream and make it reality,
for that’s all that we truly have
You and I,
we are nothing,
without our dreams.

Take the good and the bad.
Do you really think you can choose?
Yes,
you can choose.
Oh, not the way you’d like.

Life isn’t a supermarket or a thrift store.
The great bargains we search for are right before us.
Just reach out,
slowly,
if you must,
and embrace them.

Don’t let go of your dreams.
Don’t succumb.
Don’t stop.
Please don’t stop.

Dream your dreams and,
call them silly,
anything you want,
but-
don’t stop!

Over Time 1.0

These hands have toiled,
sweating, rough and bleeding.
Continuing on.

The body,
my great furnace,
driving forward
in the heat of the day,
wanting,
desiring collapse-
continuing.

Stiff and brittle claws,
frozen,
my hands have been.

Mind,
body,
spirit-
slowed by fatigue,
numbed with pain.

Siphoned by parasitic quotas.
Besieged by ruthless taskmasters,
until
the day’s end.
When I might rest
from,
the labor,
of the day.

I’m sick of me

I really am. I’m sick and tired of my concerns, my thoughts, my opinions and my attitude. I want to know how you are doing. Yes, I have troubles but we all have troubles. Tell me yours. Invite me to weep and laugh with you because this life isn’t about me. It’s about you and I. This life is about you and I caring for one another so thank you for asking me how I am. Now, share your life with me.

I’m listening.

Untitled – You people

You people are delusional.
With your fancy cars and beautiful lives.
Pools to dive in,
children to raise.

Stocks and bonds,
mutual funds, IRAs.
What is it to you?
Your shelter?
Your fortress?

Yes, it is all of that
and more.
It’s your prison friends,
and you are the wardens.
You and you and you.

That’s right.
You whine and cry and moan,
but you are your own enemy.
You put up the walls.

Don’t you remember?
They keep you in,
not me out.
You lock your doors,
I still invade your thoughts.

You have your clubs, your yachts and
still.
I ponder.
I ask,
May I join?
