In these times of trouble, where can we go for relief from the days that shout harm to us? Images of fear, death, and violence greet us wherever we turn. War is on the lips of the people. Be it whispers in the dark, or the bugler on high, joyfully announcing the crimes of the day. We awake trembling, facing the scourge before us. Who will save us? Where is the light to show us the way?

For we live by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV)

Hark! I hear a voice in the wilderness, “Make straight the way for the Lord!” (cf. John 1:23)

I lift my eyes to the hills-

It is the Lord! He comes to save, but “the fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God!'” (cf. Psalm 14:1)

But his ways are corrupt, his deeds vile, he loves the darkness, for it is the shroud that hides him from the Light-

The Light shows me the way; on this path to a word. His word.

Though I walk through this valley, a shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For the Lord is with me. He guides me along the right path (cf. Psalm 23).

Oh! How “I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings!” (Psalm 61:4 NIV)

The Lord. God. Jehovah. The Almighty. The King of Kings. The Lord of Lords. He is my strength. He is my song. I sing His praises! I revel in He that is my salvation. My Rock and my redeemer! He is a warrior, and the Lord is his name! (cf. Exodus 15)

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10 NIV)

In this darkness, this endless night, I know the right path. I see the light and run to it! I see the crown. The crown of glory. I hear His voice, Well done!

I have prepared a place for you. Sit. Eat. Rest. These enemies, all around; they cannot harm you. My angels watch over you and will not allow your foot to stumble.

I close my eyes. To sleep… To dream? To know. I am His, and He is mine. Nothing can snatch me from His hand…
