Was it you

crying out,
in ebony,
silence, on
the line,
an intake
of breath,
sharp,
stolen-
with a
click?

bleeds
upon the
altar
of humanity.

Flowing
down the streaked,
stained,
aged,
face.

Tumbling words
land upon
the
freshly
spattered
soul.

Wounded,
by grievous
joy.

Discovery,
well worn,
a deeply
rooted love
of the blood
stained canvas.

Generation
to the
next,
skipping
along
silky streams
of life-
eternal.

Lost

Church bells
screaming, cursing
through the night,
people wailing,
Heaven is too far…

Departed

Let me drift,
into the beauty of sleep,
where I dream my dreams,
and do not weep.

When I awaken,
you are not here,
I reach for you,
blindly,
grasping,
nothing-
but pain,
that empty feeling.

Deep inside,
my heart-
wailing,
for your loss.

In my sleep,
I see only you,
feel only you,
hold you,
yet,
the dampness on my pillow,
my mourning dew.
